Fierce & Mean???

I got a call from one of our clients to discuss and understand some of their operations and system reports.

I noticed that she sounded nervous. I told her to calm down, and asked why she's so nervous. The answer was "coz you are fierce and mean"!!!

I was quite for few seconds weighing how to react and answer to her comment.

Eventually I decided not to react and say anything about the comment, instead tried to discuss and answer her queries about the system. In doing so, I may have avoided disaster and becoming meaner to her. Or I may have averted adding insult to injury.

Sometimes we may need to be fierce and mean for some reasons.

When we were in school and becoming/acting stupid, teachers/professors used different ways to get our attention and point out our stupidity. Their eyes grew bigger and wider. Words became harsher, and voice sounded more imposing than ever.

Well, I employed harsher words and made my voice more imposing. That's the best thing to do when talking to stupid people and can't even see them when you talk to them. It's a lot better to talk face-to-face so we can understand the visual cues.

You may wonder what made some people stupid!

In this context, the people asked the same question for a number of times, and somehow they can't grasp things being discussed. They have their own bosses that told them what to do, yet they call support hotline to understand what they're boss wanted them to accomplish!

Can't they ask their boss about their doubts? Aren't these acts stupidity?

Being fierce and mean sometimes are justifiable...

There's always a first!

Is it left unlocked?! Not exactly.

I locked the door through the door knob, however, the padlock is nowhere to be found.

I called my colleague asking about the padlock, and she said it's inside her office and already on the way back home on board a bus. So, I had to leave the door without the padlock.

I was just surprised that it happened after so many years working here. Is it because the person is so stressed, and she forgot to put back the padlock after opening the door this morning? Or is it due to forgetfulness? Or is it something else?

Whatever the reason, there's always a first!!!

Time (Korean Movie)

It's about a woman who underwent extensive plastic surgery to save a relationship she thought was slowly dying, and that love was merely to please each one.

Low self-esteem and self-confidence caused her to get envy and jealous. But it's her inferiority complex that drove her to solve the "problem" and did the unthinkable, that was to change her face.

It was plastic surgery that she thought will solve the relationship issue, but eventually it's the cause of its destruction.

What a tragic ending...

Hope Springs

Movie depicting an English artist who ran off to America when his fiancee announced to marry another man. He found a girl who taught him all about keeping a smile. His relationship became complicated when his ex-girlfriend showed up and wanted to make up with their relationship.

The plot and the story line I think it's a bit boring. The script writer could have made the story better.

What's the purpose of the movie? Entertainment. That means we enjoy and understand what's being presented.

There's a point to ponder in this movie though. Trust and honesty are factors for a smooth relationship, otherwise it will be turbulent. :D

The Ningas* Cogon Mentality

It's nice to see that people are busy having discussion on different projects, its implementation and deadline. Seems that everyone is positive and productive, fueled by adrenaline rush for money to be made, and for sure to lead to great and wonderful things.

All too often, the projects under discussion never get off the ground. This is due to people unwilling to take risk, or don't want to innovate, or they don't know at all!!! (sigh) Or maybe it's just a classic case of having the comfort zone (shaking leg?!!! hmmm....).

In my home country we have an expression/phrase ningas cogon, referring to what happens when you set a blazing fire, only to watch it quickly fizzle out.

Ningas cogon basically means starting out projects with full vigor and interest which abruptly die down, leaving things unfinished.

This mentality I think can be avoided when there is good management, inspired leadership and teamwork.

The main factors here are really the mindset of the people involve.

Being busy does not always mean real work. The object of all work is production or accomplishment and to either of these ends there must be forethought, system, planning, intelligence, and honest purpose, as well as perspiration. Seeming to do is not doing.
